brings a ribbon of length 2 3/4m and each boy brings 3 1/4m .

What is the total length of ribbon collected by the 50 

students?

ANSWER

                               No of students in a class     =    50

                               No of girls in the class  = 3/5 of 50

                                                                      =3/5 * 50

                                                                      =150/50

                                                                      =30

                                           No of boys in the class = 50-30

                                                                  =20

                                 Length of  the ribbons brought by girls = 2 3/4

                                                                                     =11/4

                      Length of the ribbon brought by boys  = 3 1/4                                                                                                                                                                                         =13/4

              Total length of the Ribbon  brought by girls  and boys                                                                          

                                                              =30* 11/4  + 20*13/4

                                                             =330/4 +260/4

                                                            =590/4

                                                            =147 1/4

          Therefore ,  the total length of the ribbon is 161m

 Rachel took 1/2 hour to paint a table and 1/3 hour to paint a chair .How much 

time did she take in all?

  ANSWER  

                           Time taken to paint a table=1/2

                           time taken to paint a chair =1/3

                          Total time taken = 1/2+1/3

                                       

                                                    =3/6+2/6

                          total number of students of fifth, fourth and third
                                                                      =16+32+24

                    therefore remaining students are second grades

                   Let the total length of the pencil is x cm

                                                                        =7x/8

 

                                         1/2 part of the 7x/8 is white
